Project Description
Molaris Device is an innovative IoT solution developed by BibeCoffee to enable the remote monitoring and management of professional coffee grinders.
Connected directly to the grinder, the device collects and transmits critical operational data, including coffee consumption in kilograms, grinder burr operating time and, depending on the grinder model, information regarding single, double and triple coffee doses. It also allows users to monitor the grinder’s operational status, including whether it is switched on or off and whether it has been disconnected from the power supply.
Through the BibeCoffee platform and mobile application, users can access and visualize grinder data remotely, set operational thresholds and receive timely alerts regarding equipment status and maintenance requirements. The device is designed to be compatible with different grinder models and can operate either as a standalone solution or as part of the wider BibeCoffee IoT ecosystem.
More specifically, the project sets objectives such as:
- Designing and developing a grinder-agnostic IoT device capable of connecting professional coffee grinders to a centralized digital platform.
- Monitoring coffee consumption, grinder usage and dose-related data in order to provide accurate operational and performance insights.
- Tracking grinder burr operating time and enabling users to define maintenance thresholds and receive notifications when burr replacement is approaching.
- Detecting grinder movement through an integrated motion sensor and activating GPS functionality to support equipment location and asset protection.
- Providing remote visibility of grinder status, power connectivity and operating conditions through the BibeCoffee web platform and mobile application.
- Supporting coffee roasters, distributors, coffee chains, equipment manufacturers, HORECA businesses and technical teams with data for inventory planning, preventive maintenance and more efficient equipment management.
- Enabling the Molaris Device to operate as a standalone product or to connect directly to the existing BibeCoffee IoT gateway, creating a unified monitoring environment for coffee machines and grinders.
Overall, the purpose of the project is to transform professional coffee grinders into smart, connected assets. By collecting and visualizing real-time operational data, Molaris Device aims to improve visibility, maintenance planning, asset protection and data-driven decision-making across the coffee industry.
